I liked a photo on Instagram: “Exactly two years ago I took one of the most amazing trips ever. I was living in Bellingham at the time and I was stressed because of some huge life changes that were going on. I decided I needed to refresh and take a road trip with Peanut down the Pacific Coast. It was spontaneous and we had no plans, just a map and an end goal - the Redwood Forest in California. We packed up the car (Ford Focus) and set off on a multi-week adventure. We slept in the car in random parking lots and campgrounds, unsure of where the next day would take us. We woke up on the beach and ran barefoot in the sand. I ate fast food tacos and visited every brewery I could find. I purposely made no plans of where to go next because I loved the rush and thrill of spontaneity. We met some awesome locals who offered a listening ear or a warm couch to crash on. We explored secret beaches, stayed up to watch every sunset and woke up early to catch every sunrise. I returned to Washington rejuvenated with a new sense of independence and love for myself.
I think a lot of us are afraid to do something that might be out of our comfort zone. We’re afraid to not have a plan. We’re afraid to be alone. Honestly, those things still scare me too sometimes.
So, I encourage everyone to get a little uncomfortable and to challenge yourself in a new way. Find your inner child. Stoke that wild fire that’s deep in your soul. Stop being afraid. You’re never too old to change, and you’re never too old to grow.” by alexborsuk http://bit.ly/1RSETMa
